85-Year-Old German Cheese Company Introduces Vegan Brand!
With Germany officially becoming the first country in the world to phase out the practice of chick ‘shredding’, it should come as no surprise that more and more German companies are taking note of the increasing vegetarianism and veganism in the country.
Hochland, an 85-year-old German cheese company, is one example. They have released a new vegan brand this month called Simply V, which already has four vegan cheese spreads available. The brand Simply V brand falls under the newly created vegan subsidiary titled EVA Gmbh, whose goal is to create dairy-free cheeses that mimic cheese in both flavor and in terms of use.
The cheese spreads are meant to be “fresh” and “mild” cream-cheese type varieties in flavors such as herbs, hazelnut-nougat or sweet pepper with nuts-mostly almonds, used as the base. Unlike many other vegan cheese companies, all products under the Simply V brand will be soy and palm oil-free.
Hochland’s products are already sold in over 30 countries, but as they have noted that currently 26% of German consumers report eating a vegan meal at least one in a while, they made the decision to incorporate vegan alternatives to accommodate changing tastes and preferences.
After experimenting with the new products for six months, Hochland was proud to announce:
“[Simply V’s] products show that vegan food can taste really good.”
As they already have a market in more than 30 countries, hopefully Simply V will soon make its debut in those same countries as well!
