Celebrity Chef Matthew Kenney To Open Vegan Pizza Restaurant!
Matthew Kenney, American chef, entrepreneur and author of 12 cookbooks, is about to change everything you thought you knew about vegan pizza-and you will love it!
Kenney stated that early in 2016, he will be opening a vegan pizza restaurant called Double Zero in New York City’s East Village. The name may sound a bit strange, but it is a tribute to the high-quality ultra-find ground flour that will be used to create the signature pizza dough.
The menu will be crafted by chef Scott Winegard, who is the Director of Culinary Operations for all of Kenney’s restaurants, with Kenney also partnering up with Raymond Azzi and Kyle Saliba. All pizzas will be wood-fired, vegetable-based, with bases such as nut cheeses, pestos, and other toppings/sauces that are a plant-based version of traditional pizza options. Some other items diners can expect from this upscale concept include vegan ice cream and organic wines.
And what kind of pizza options are Kenney’s team conjuring up? Smoked oyster mushroom with a walnut cream sauce, tomato with smoked almond ricotta and arugula, and shiitake-based anchovies with an almond cream sauce are just some of the many sample concepts being mulled over.
This new restaurant seems like it will attract fans of this traditional and popular food by taking pizza to the next level!
