Russell Simmons Talks About Life as a Happy Vegan!
Russell Simmons, co-founder of hip hop music label Def Jam, released his latest book a few months ago, “The Happy Vegan”, which focuses on all the benefits he has experienced after becoming vegan in 1999.
Simmons was featured on Health Talk, and stated that he hopes the book contributes to people becoming more open-minded towards plant-based living, and as a result bettering themselves, helping animals, and having less of a negative impact on the environment. He stated:
“I hope that I can convince people to go on a plant-based diet and save their lives and save the planet.”
“The Happy Vegan” is about his personal experience with veganism, and also aims to dispel some of the more common misconceptions about the diet. He also writes about the connections between health and eating habits and offers tips on how to make the transition to a plant-based lifestyle.
In the feature on Health Talk, he brought up the deplorable conditions animals in industrial settings face, the effects on the environment, as well as the role veganism has in losing weight and maintaining it. He states the diet was how he was able to lose 20 pounds, and keep it off.
Simmons also stated via Twitter and in the interview that all proceeds of the book will go to charity, as he wants the book to be seen as a “gift to the world”. You can watch his interview on being a happy vegan, as well as the book release, right here.
