Houston's All-Vegan Ice Cream Shop Opens This Week!
Houston Eater reports that Gretchen Todd of Juice Girl is set to open a second location of the “health-focused juice and smoothie bar” at 214 Fairview Street in Montrose, but with a very special addition:
“Todd’s second outpost will feature a bigger menu than its predecessor. In addition to the classic juices and smoothies, you’ll also find herbal lattes and prepared vegan meals. Perhaps most importantly, Todd will bring the first organic vegan ice cream shop to Clutch City.”
According to Houstonia, the official grand opening for the shop will be on Thursday October 20, although a soft opening is currently taking place featuring Todd’s ice cream brand, Over the Moon. The Houstonia team sampled flavors such as Green Apple’ade, pineapple-coconut cream, rich chocolate, strawberry, masala chai, and sweet potato chocolate chip ice cream. Since the ice creams can be made into “sundaes, banana splits, acai bowls, and shakes,” the toppings are just as exciting:
“Besides toasted coconut, faux Butterfingers and vegan Gummi Bears, Todd is also perfecting sauces in flavors including strawberry, caramel and chocolate.”
Houston, make sure to welcome your new all-vegan organic ice cream shop this Thursday, which Houstonia describes as a “one-stop shop for vegans-and people who like delicious, real food-and anyone who likes dessert.”
