Plant-Based Protein Powders Are Growing in Popularity on Amazon
The protein powder industry sold a half a billion dollars worth of product in 2016, and a good amount of those products were vegan. According to a forthcoming report by 1010Data, plant-based protein powders are growing in popularity with Amazon.com shoppers. Whey powders still hold the number one spot, yet several top-selling vegan brands are found within the top ten. Steve Myers wrote on Natural Products Insider:
“As the fifth most popular online protein powder brand, plant-based Vega’s success is a prime example of the rising popularity of plant proteins.”
And it’s not just Vega‘s popular protein powder that’s on the rise. Orgain, Nature’s Best, and Garden of Life are also among the top ten sellers and gaining momentum. The increasing demand is believed to be due to consumers’ desires for a cleaner product and a lower environmental footprint. With plant-based powders, consumers are most definitely contributing to a more sustainable and eco-friendly impact, as well as helping the animals and their own health.
