Travis Barker on Veganism: "I have endless amounts of energy"
Blink 182’s Travis Barker was recently featured in an interview with Men’s Journal, which focused on his fitness routine, lifestyle, and eating habits. The article points out that Barker has been a vegetarian since the age of 15, and became a vegan almost 10 years ago, crediting his “gluten-free, vegan diet” for his ability to keep up with his “cardio-packed days” of rehearsals, shows, gym sessions and touring. Barker states:
“Honestly, ever since I found this way of eating I have endless amounts of energy. I can go all day, and after it all I never find myself getting tired. No matter what kind of shows I have done, or workouts I do on top of it, I still have to force myself to sleep at night.”
Barker also mentions how NBA star and vegan wellness advocate John Salley spoke to him about how “players who ate that way outperformed others,” with Barker noting that he saw those results for himself as well. When asked about veganism on the road, Barker states that “it has gotten a lot easier than it used to be” and that “vegan restaurants are everywhere now.” He also uses Happy Cow to find “all the vegan options that are closest.” When asked if he shares his vegan meals, snacks and juices with fellow Blink 182 members, Barker responded:
“Definitely. Matt Skiba is vegan as well. Mark [Hoppus] is closer to vegetarian. I also have everyone doing E3Live. We are full-on getting ready for this tour, and we want to bring the best show possible to the Blink fans.”
