Runner's World Highlights Vegan Runners
Yesterday, Runner’s World featured an article about Farm Sanctuary‘s “Plant-Powered Run” that took place on June 10 at Hudson River Park in New York City, and highlighted 12 participants and what they ate before the race began. Writer Ryan Haney noted:
“My hunch that not all vegan runners fuel the same way was soon confirmed, but I was a little surprised to find out that not all vegan runners look the same the way either.”
Adding that the “veg crowd was well-represented,” Haney then profiled different runners and the plant-based foods they used to fuel up. From bars, teas, smoothies, protein shakes, fruits, toast with peanut butter to fasting before a run, all runners had a different food strategy for finishing the race.
Haney added that the event “looked like any other Saturday morning race, save for the life-size cardboard cutout of a cow.” You can read the full feature here.
