When you think of vegan comfort food in Toronto, Hogtown Vegan is probably the first restaurant that comes to mind. With a menu that features everything from burgers to deep-fried sundaes, the popularity of this Toronto hotspot should come as no surprise.
Now there is another treat in store for customers: a second location is currently in-the-works! On September 16, a post on the restaurant’s Instagram read:
“Big news: we’ve got a second location on the way! The Hogtown Vegan on College. Opening in October. Same menu you know and love with a view. (Hint: patio).”
Jill Krasnicki, co-owner of the restaurant, stated that the decision is an effort to “meet the demand of customers,” since the original Bloor Street location has been “operating at maximum capacity during peak hours.”
The new location, set to open in mid-October, will be located at College and Croft Street, just west of Spadina. Krasnicki added:
We’ve moved to College Street due to the dense neighbourhood population and the fact that it’s close to the university. College St. has a few vegan restaurants scheduled to open next year and we’d like to help turn College into a new vegan strip for Toronto!”
While the restaurant’s “top-sellers are Unchicken and Waffles, the Southern Combo and Fries Supremacy,” the Unchicken Caesar Wrap remains my staple vegan comfort food:
