Quaker Oats Launching Vegan Milk Range
Quaker Oats, best known for its oat-based food and snack products, is set to launch a vegan milk range next year.
According to The New York Times, the company introduced its “Quaker Oat Beverage” last weekend at a trade show in Washington. The mass market release for the oat-based beverage is planned for January.
While there are many plant-based milk alternatives currently available, the article notes:
“Quaker hopes to distinguish its offering by promoting what it says are its health benefits, primarily that it contains beta-glucan, a soluble fiber from oat bran, that might reduce the risk of heart disease.”
Robbert Rietbroek, Quaker Foods North America’s general manager, states:
“Oats are good for you. They’re good for your heart. They reduce cholesterol. They’re good for your gut, and they give you long-lasting energy.”
The range comes in three flavors: Original, Original Unsweetened, and Vanilla.
