Review of Gosbags: Vegan, High-Quality & Functional Bags
It’s not everyday you find vegan, high-quality, casual and functional bags that also support a good cause.
That’s where Gosbags comes in, founded by Regina Senicar and Nick D’Alessandro in 2018. The company, which operates as an online store, was created in order to fill a need for what was lacking in the vegan bag department. Regina states:
“The idea started out of necessity for a tote bag that would suit my needs. I carry a lot of things to work every day and was having a hard time finding a nice looking bag that met all of my needs. So we began by choosing a good quality canvas material and then moved onto to other unique features such as an inside water bottle holder, key hook, and pockets for lip balm, tissues, etc.”
What began as a tote line soon developed into an online store with three different options in a wide variety of colors to choose from: Backpack Purse, Crossbody Purse, and Everyday Tote.
All options are completely vegan, with the backpack and crossbody even including faux leather accents. Plus, 5% of every purchase is donated to non-profit Best Friends Animal Society. On keeping animal products out of their line, Regina and Nick stated:
“We are animal lovers and don’t believe that any living being should suffer. People are embracing a kinder option more than ever since they are helping to make a difference and it aligns with their beliefs.”
Regina notes that beyond being animal-friendly, they wanted to create a “stylish, fun and casual product to an audience that wasn’t looking for an expensive or animal based product.” So when they offered to send us Gosbags samples for a review, I was beyond excited—especially considering my current bag has seen better days!
Gosbags kindly sent their Backpack Purse in olive green, the Crossbody Purse in black, and the Everyday Tote in olive. To my pleasant surprise, I learned that all orders include a surprise pouch as a ‘thank you.’
At first glance, all I could really pay attention to was how beautifully designed the bags are. The faux leather straps on the backpack made it more of a stylish-casual bag, and the crossbody and tote bag definitely had a sleek look.
As the founders really stress the functionality of the bags, I was happy to notice all of the pockets and holders within each bag, really making them perfect as everyday bags or for all-day outings. I’ve already used my backpack for short trips to the shop, as well as for my longer journey to my gym, and everything I need already has a designated spot. The zippers on both sides of the backpack really come in handy when you need to take a few extra things and can use a little more room.
The tote bag is perfect for groceries as well as beach days (summer cannot come soon enough!) and I really appreciate all the compartments in it so it can double as a shopping bag and purse. Regina even let me know that some people are using the tote bag as a high end gift bag for the holidays!
The crossbody I treat as an everyday purse-it’s smaller than my current purse but is designed so well that it can hold everything I need, definitely stressing the idea of ‘less is more.’
What’s even more exciting is that Gosbags is set for expansion! When I asked what we can expect to see in the future, Regina stated;
“Our vision is to offer a full line of stylish and animal friendly bags to meet the needs of many. We already have a handful of new and exciting product concepts that we hopefully will begin to roll out in the near future.”
