Stella McCartney to Launch Vegan Menswear Line
Stella McCartney, London-based fashion designer, has announced that she plans to expand her current well-known brand into the world of men’s fashion.
Daughter of Paul and Linda McCartney, Stella has been a life-long vegetarian, and it should come as no surprise that she extends her principles to her clothing line, never using leather, fur or feathers. However, the designer has been criticized from animal rights activist about the use of “humane wool” and silk. However, the new line has been labeled as vegan, which could imply that she has had a change of heart.
McCartney has focused on women’s fashion since 2001, and her brand includes casual clothing, accessories, lingerie, eyewear, fragrances, and it expanded to children’s wear in 2010.
McCartney had experimented with menswear in a collaborative project with Adidas, and during her Women’s Leadership Award ceremony in 2014, she hinted of what was to come by stating:
“I don’t do menswear—yet.”
Her collection is set to be launched in the spring/summer 2017 season, and may have its debut during the next fashion week.
