Kat Von D’s Vegan Shoe Line to Feature Boot With Lipstick Compartment

In 2016, Kat Von D let her fans know that she was in the process of sketching designs for an upcoming vegan shoe line. In January of this year, she announced that the line would be launched later on in the year, and offered a glimpse of some of the sketches. In July, she provided fans with a few more details, as well as an image of one of the 26 prototypes.

Now, according to a lengthy feature in Racked, Von D will launch her “self-funded vegan shoe line called Von D Shoes,” in the new year, and it will feature 28 different styles. The tattoo artist revealed she was working on the shoe line in Italy at a vegan shoe factory, and the publication confirms it is being “produced in Italy using high-tech leather alternatives.” Von D states:

“I’m not interested in looking at cheap plastics. We’re looking at all these innovative, different leather substitutes that are made out of mushroom and pineapple and they’re actually great for the environment and look equal to, if not better than leather.”

Another fun tidbit to learn is that according to the article, one of the 28 styles includes a boot that will “feature a compartment that will fit a lipstick,” perfect for carrying a vegan and cruelty-free shade from Kat Von D Beauty!
